Charging of highly resistive granular metal films

open access: yes, 2017
We have used the Scanning Kelvin probe microscopy technique to monitor the charging process of highly resistive granular thin films. The sample is connected to two leads and is separated by an insulator layer from a gate electrode. When a gate voltage is

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

Characterization of Al-doped ZnTe layer using scanning capacitance microscopy and Kelvin probe force microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2007
Al-doped ZnTe layer in ZnTe LED fabricated by Al thermal diffusion has been characterized using cross-sectional scanning capacitance microscopy (SCM) and Kelvin probe force microscopy (KFM), and the results were verified by comparing with the result of the electron beam induced current (EBIC) measurements.

Large Negative Electronic Compressibility of LaAlO3-SrTiO3 Interfaces with Ultrathin LaAlO3 Layers

open access: yes, 2012
A two-dimensional electron liquid is formed at the n-type interface between SrTiO3 and LaAlO3. Here we report on Kelvin probe microscopy measurements of the electronic compressibility of this electron system. The electronic compressibility is found to be

Spin and Charge Control of Topological End States in Chiral Graphene Nanoribbons on a 2D Ferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral graphene nanoribbons on a ferromagnetic gadolinium‐gold surface alloy display tunable spin and charge states at their termini. Atomic work function variations and exchange fields enabe transitions between singlet, doublet, and triplet configurations.

Au-Ag template stripped pattern for scanning probe investigations of DNA arrays produced by Dip Pen Nanolithography

open access: yes, 2008
We report on DNA arrays produced by Dip Pen Nanolithography (DPN) on a novel Au-Ag micro patterned template stripped surface. DNA arrays have been investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) showing that the ...

Phase Separation in Ti-6Al-4V Alloys with Boron Additions for Biomedical Applications: Scanning Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy Investigation of Microgalvanic Couples and Corrosion Initiation

open access: yesJOM, 2017
To investigate the effect of boron additions on the corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-4V for potential use in biomedical implants and devices, cast samples of Ti-6Al-4V were alloyed with 0.01% to 1.09% boron by weight and subjected to hot isostatic pressing ...

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.
