Scanning and transmission electron microscopy of odontogenic keratocysts

The ultrastructural characteristics of the superficial cells of the epithelial lining of odontogenic keratocysts were studied. Examples of both the parakeratinized type and the less common orthokeratinized variant were examined. Scanning electron microscopy reveals that the morphology of the two cyst types is distinctly different.
