Scaphoid Fracture as a “Puncherʼs Fracture”
Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 1994We investigated 18 scaphoid fractures induced by punching. The wrist position while punching was neutral to slight palmar flexion. We postulated that the mechanism of the fracture was caused by the concentration of the external force to the second metacarpus.

An unusual fracture of the scaphoid
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1983A case of unusual displacement of the proximal pole of an acute scaphoid fracture is presented. The usual mechanism of scaphoid fracture, dorsiflexion of the wrist, probably did not pertain in this case. We believe that a palmar hyperflexion injury to the wrist drove the proximal pole through the dorsal capsule.
