Sequence identification and expression characterization of leptin in the spotted scat, Scatophagus argus

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Scatophagus argus is an important marine culture fish in South and South-East Asia, including Southeast coastal areas of China. Artificial propagation technology for S. argus is not optimum; thus further studies on its reproduction biology are required.

Characterization and gonadal expression of FOXL2 relative to Cyp19a genes in spotted scat Scatophagus argus

Gene, 2015
In the present study, we cloned the full-length cDNAs of FOXL2, Cyp19a1a and Cyp19a1b and analyzed their expression patterns during gonadal development in spotted scat, Scatophagus argus. All three genes were expressed in ovaries and testes but showed sexual dimorphism.

Effects of recombinant gonadotropin hormones on the gonadal maturation in the spotted scat, Scatophagus argus

Aquaculture, 2018
Abstract Gonadotropins (GtHs) are crucial regulators of reproductive endocrinology in teleosts. In the present study, the full cDNA sequences of FSH and LH in the spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) were cloned, and recombinant FSH (r-SaFSH) and LH (r-SaLH) proteins were obtained via prokaryotic expression.

Pituitary transcriptome analysis of spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) with ovaries before and after yolk formation

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part D: Genomics and Proteomics
Fish eggs are of pivotal significance in the domain of fish reproduction, and the degree of their development exerts a profound effect on reproductive capacity. Spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) is an important economic mariculture fish in East and Southeast Asia.

Food, Feeding Habits and Biochemical Composition of Scatophagus argus

2014
The spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) is widely distributed throughout Indo Pacific basin. This species is valuable brackish water aquarium fish and an important food fish in parts of its range. A study on the feeding habits, condition factor and muscle biochemical composition was carried out.
