HERWIG 6: an event generator for Hadron emission reactions with interfering gluons (including supersymmetric processes)

open access: yes, 2000
HERWIG is a general-purpose Monte Carlo event generator, which includes the simulation of hard lepton-lepton, lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron scattering and soft hadron-hadron collisions in one package. It uses the parton-shower approach for initial- and

Electron loss rates from the outer radiation belt caused by the filling of the outer plasmasphere: The calm before the storm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Measurements from seven spacecraft in geosynchronous orbit are analyzed to determine the decay rate of the number density of the outer electron radiation belt prior to the onset of high-speed-stream-driven geomagnetic storms.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Estimating number of group targets arranged in linear array via forward‐backward matrix pencil method

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2023
An efficient number estimation method is proposed for target detection by using the forward‐backward matrix pencil method. Compared with the traditional parameter estimation methods, the proposed method can work well even for sparse signals.

Harbor Detection in Polarimetric SAR Images Based on Context Features and Reflection Symmetry

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The detection of harbors presents difficulties related to their diverse sizes, varying morphology and scattering, and complex backgrounds. To avoid the extraction of unstable geometric features, in this paper, we propose an unsupervised harbor detection ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Suppression of Cross-Band Scattering in Multiband Antenna Arrays

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2019
This paper presents a novel method of suppressing cross-band scattering in dual-band dual-polarized antenna arrays. The method involves introducing chokes into low-band (LB) elements to suppress high-band (HB) scattering currents.
