High-Resolution X-ray Phase-Contrast Imaging and Sensory and Rheometer Tests in Cooked Edamame

open access: yesFoods, 2022
Although several reports exist on the use of X-ray analysis in vegetables and fruits to examine internal disorders, cavities, and porosity, information on X-ray analysis of qualities, such as texture, is lacking as well as information on X-ray analysis ...

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

A new numerical model to compute photolysis rates and solar heating with anisotropic scattering in spherical geometry [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 1996
For calculating photolysis rates and solar heating in the atmosphere, the radiation field has to be calculated very accurately. Previous investigations have shown that for large solar zenith angles a solution of the radiation equation which accounts ...

Experimental Evidence of Radiation Reaction in the Collision of a High-Intensity Laser Pulse with a Laser-Wakefield Accelerated Electron Beam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The dynamics of energetic particles in strong electromagnetic fields can be heavily influenced by the energy loss arising from the emission of radiation during acceleration, known as radiation reaction.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

A Design Method of Reconfigurable Frequency Selective Surface Based on Image Generation and Database Establishment

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
A method of batch generation of frequency selective surface structure is proposed in this paper. The method of random image generation and random diode insertion position is used to generate a database through a large number of automatic calculations to ...

SIMPLE ANALYTICAL APPROXIMATIONS FOR TREATMENT OF INVERSE COMPTON SCATTERING OF RELATIVISTIC ELECTRONS IN THE BLACKBODY RADIATION FIELD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The inverse Compton (IC) scattering of relativistic electrons is one of the major gamma-ray production mechanisms in different environments. Often, the target photons for IC scattering are dominated by blackbody (or graybody) radiation. In this case, the

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Crossed source-detector geometry for a novel spray diagnostic: Monte Carlo simulation and analytical results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Sprays and other industrially relevant turbid media can be quantitatively characterized by light scattering. However, current optical diagnostic techniques generate errors in the intermediate scattering regime where the average number of light ...
