Expression of scavenger receptor class B type I in gallbladder columnar epithelium

Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2002
AbstractBackgroundThe lipid content of bile may be modified by the gallbladder epithelium. Recent studies indicate that cholesterol can be absorbed from bile and that this can be enhanced by apolipoprotein (apo) A‐I. SR‐BI is a multifunctional receptor capable of binding a wide array of native or modified lipoproteins, phospholipid or bile acid ...

Upregulation of scavenger receptor class B type I expression by activation of FXR in hepatocyte

Atherosclerosis, 2010
The farnesoid X receptor (FXR), a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily, has been proposed to play an important role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases by regulating the metabolism and transport of cholesterol and triglyceride. Scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI), a high-density lipoprotein receptor, plays an important role in ...

Stabilization of Caveolin-1 by Cellular Cholesterol and Scavenger Receptor Class B Type I

Biochemistry, 2002
Caveolae are 50-100 nm plasma membrane invaginations, which function in cell signaling, in transcytosis, and in regulating cellular cholesterol homeostasis. These subcompartments of the plasma membrane are characterized by the presence of caveolin proteins.

Characterization of scavenger receptor class B, type I in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)

Lipids, 2006
AbstractThe scavenger receptor class B, type I (SR‐BI) is an important player in regulation of mammalian lipid homeostasis. We therefore wanted to study this receptor in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.), which requires a diet with particular high lipid content. We have for the first time cloned and characterized SR‐BI from a salmonid fish.

Expression of human scavenger receptor class B type I in cultured human monocyte-derived macrophages and atherosclerotic lesions.

Circulation Research, 1999
The scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) and its human homologue CLA-1 (CD36 and LIMPII Analogous-1) have recently been identified to bind HDL and mediate the selective uptake of HDL lipids.

Rosuvastatin attenuates atherosclerosis in rats via activation of scavenger receptor class B type I

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2014
In order to investigate the effect and mechanism of action of rosuvastatin on atherosclerotic lesion in a Wistar rat model, 16 Wistar rats were fed a cholesterol-rich, vitamin D3 overload diet and underwent balloon injury of the aorta. One day prior to injury, half of the rats began rosuvastatin treatment (5mg/kg/d) via oral gavage.

Scavenger Receptor Class B Type I Modulates Epileptic Seizures and Receptor α2δ-1 Expression

Neurochemical Research
Scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) is abundant in adult mouse and human brains, but its function in the central nervous system (CNS) remains unclear. This study explored the role of SR-BI in epilepsy and its possible underlying mechanism. Expression patterns of SR-BI in the brains of mice with kainic acid (KA)-induced epilepsy were detected ...

Function and regulation of hepatic scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI)

International Congress Series, 2004
Abstract The scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) was the first functional cell surface high-density lipoprotein (HDL) receptor to be described. SR-BI mediates efficient selective lipid uptake and is highly expressed in the liver. In fact, hepatic SR-BI is critical in regulating plasma HDL cholesterol levels and biliary cholesterol secretion in ...
