Molecular characterisation of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius from dogs and the description of their SCCmec elements.

Veterinary Microbiology, 2019
In recent years an increasing number of methicillin-resistant S. pseudintermedius (MRSP) has been observed in both, healthy and clinically infected dogs.

Correlation between type IIIA CRISPR–Cas system and SCCmec in Staphylococcus epidermidis

Archives of Microbiology, 2021
A subculture of S.epidermidis strain ATCC35984 that is amenable to genetically manipulate was occasionally found in our laboratory. This mutant exhibited susceptibility to methicillin in contrast to its parent strain. To unveil the underlying mechanism, whole-genome sequencing of the mutant was performed.

The Characterization of mecA Gene and SCCmec Typing in Clinical Samples of MRSA

Science Letters, 2019
MRSA is a major pathogen worldwide and its infections are associated with increased morbidity and mortality, in comparison with other S. aureus infections. The study was designed to characterize the mecA gene and staphylococcal cassette chromosome (SCCmec) in methicillin resistance S. aureus (MRSA). A total of 20 presumptive S.

Association between biofilm production, adhesion genes and drugs resistance in different SCCmec types of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from several major hospitals of Iran

Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences, 2018
Objective(s): The ability of bacteria to produce biofilm and adhesion makes them more resistant to antibiotics. The current study aims to evaluate the biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus and to determine the prevalence of adhesion genes, also ...

An array of multiplex PCR assays for detection of staphylococcal chromosomal cassette mec (SCCmec) types among staphylococcal isolates.

Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2019
Staphylococcal Cassette Chromosome mec (SCCmec) element plays a key role in development of resistance by carrying different resistance factors. Therefore, routine and rapid diagnostic approach is considered advantageous for the easy detection of SCCmec ...

SCCmec-associated psm-mec mRNA promotes Staphylococcus epidermidis biofilm formation

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2016
Biofilm formation is considered the major pathogenic mechanism of Staphylococcus epidermidis-associated nosocomial infections. Reports have shown that SCCmec-associated psm-mec regulated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus virulence and biofilm formation. However, the role of psm-mec in S. epidermidis remains unclear.

Structural Determinants of SCCmec Recombination in Staphylococcus aureus

Methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus emerges through acquisition of a mobile genetic element named staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec). SCCmec contains the mecA gene, which confers resistance, and the ccrA/ccrB or ccrC operons encoding large serine recombinases that integrate and excise the element.

Staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) typing of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated in 11 Asian countries: a proposal for a new nomenclature for SCCmec elements.

Antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy, 2006
A description of staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) elements carried by 615 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains isolated in 11 Asian countries is reported, and a novel nomenclatural system based on their structures is proposed.
