A study on the fauna of Scelionid wasps (Hymenoptera: Platygastroidea: Scelionidae) in the Isfahan province, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biological Sciences, 2012
Scelionid wasps (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) are powerful egg parasitoids which have an efficient role in the biological control of agricultural pests, especially pentatomids (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae).

The value of regeneration for insect fauna associated with leaf litter in the Brazilian savanna: A comparative study of biomass and trophic structure

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the ecological value of natural regeneration in the Brazilian Cerrado by analysing the biomass, richness and trophic structure of leaf litter insects across pasture (P), regenerating (R) and native (N) areas. We found that R areas supported insect communities more similar to N habitats than to Ps, with higher richness, greater ...

Revision of Dvivarnus (Scelionidae, Teleasinae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hymenoptera Research, 2016
Two new species, Dvivarnus elektrolythron Talamas & Mikó, sp. n. and D. mikuki Talamas & Mikó, sp. n. are described. The genus is redescribed and a key is provided to separate Dvivarnus from other groups in Teleasinae with mesoscutellar spines.

Degree of insecticide exposure and access to nectar impact survival of Trissolcus japonicus, a hymenopteran parasitoid, in flowering border strips

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We applied three thiamethoxam spray treatments to buckwheat border strips: control (no nearby spray), drift (adjacent peach trees directly sprayed) and direct spray (buckwheat and peaches directly sprayed). Drift‐treated buckwheat received about 1.4% the amount of thiamethoxam as direct‐spray buckwheat. This amount has no lethal effects on parasitoids,

Orchard Management Influences Predation of Halyomorpha halys Eggs

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We investigated predation of eggs of the invasive stink bug Halyomorpha halys on apple trees in conventional, organic, and extensively managed Dutch orchards. Predation exceeded 40% in extensively managed orchards but was only about 10% in conventional and organic ones. We used camera traps to reveal natural enemies that may contribute to H.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Trissolcus japonicus (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae), the candidate for the biological control of Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2021
The samurai wasp Trissolcus japonicus (Ashmead, 1904) is a parasitoid hymenopteran that came into the limelight as the natural enemy of Halyomorpha halys. Here, we present the complete sequence of the mitochondrial genome of the CREATJ laboratory strain,
