Genetic algorithms for satellite scheduling problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Recently there has been a growing interest in mission operations scheduling problem. The problem, in a variety of formulations, arises in management of satellite/space missions requiring efficient allocation of user requests to make possible the ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

PSA: The Packet Scheduling Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2011
The main cause of wasted energy consumption in wireless sensor networks is packet collision. The packet scheduling algorithm is therefore introduced to solve this problem.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

A hybrid particle swarm optimization and hill climbing algorithm for task scheduling in the cloud environments

open access: yesICT Express, 2018
Task scheduling is one of the most important issues in heterogeneous environments when high efficiency is required. Because task scheduling is a Nondeterministic Polynomial (NP)-hard problem, many evolutionary algorithms have been adopted to solve this ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

A Greener Heterogeneous Scheduling Algorithm via Blending Pattern of Particle Swarm Computing Intelligence and Geometric Brownian Motion

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
This paper focuses on the algorithms design of heterogeneous green scheduling for energy conservation and emission reduction in cloud computing. In essence, the real time, dynamic and complexity of heterogeneous scheduling require higher algorithm ...

Pseudo-scheduling: A New Approach to the Broadcast Scheduling Problem

open access: yes, 2012
The broadcast scheduling problem asks how a multihop network of broadcast transceivers operating on a shared medium may share the medium in such a way that communication over the entire network is possible.

Nurse Scheduling Using Genetic Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2014
This study applied engineering techniques to develop a nurse scheduling model that, while maintaining the highest level of service, simultaneously minimized hospital‐staffing costs and equitably distributed overtime pay. In the mathematical model, the objective function was the sum of the overtime payment to all nurses and the standard deviation of the
