Constituents and biological activities of Schinus polygamus
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2006The folk medicine employs Schinus polygamus to treat arthritic pain and cleansing of wounds. As no reports of pharmacological studies supporting its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, extracts of increasing polarity were assayed on the base of fever, pain and inflammation, together with its antimicrobial activity.

Structural Studies on the Triterpenes of Schinus terebinthefolus
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1962A second triterpene, schinol (II), has been isolated from the berries in the ether extract. The relationship of II to previously reported terebinthone (I), has been demonstrated. Terebinthone (I) has been proven to be a triketo triterpene and schinol (II) to be a dihydroxy, keto triterpene.

The triterpenoid acids of Schinus molle
Phytochemistry, 1978Abstract From the acidic fraction of the oleoresin obtained from the berries of Schinus molle was isolated isomasticadienonic, isomasticadienonalic, masticadienonic and 3-epi-isomasticadienolic acids. In addition the new 3-epi-isomasticadienolalic acid was isolated. Both isomasticadienonalic and 3-epi-isomasticadienolalic acids had an aldehydic group

Properties of laccase in Schinus molle
Phytochemistry, 1981Abstract The properties of laccase isolated from Schinus molle, including its MW, amino acid and carbohydrate composition, are described. The enzyme is distinct from Rhus laccase both in K m and in carbohydrate composition.

Structural Studies on Terebinthone from Schinus terebinthefolius
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1962A new triterpene, terebinthone, has been isolated from the berries of Schinus terebinthefolius (Radd.). Analyses indicate the formula C30H46O3. Spectral evidence indicates that the compound is a diketone with one group in the C-3 position and the second in a highly hindered position.

The correct gender of Schinus (Anacardiaceae)
Phytotaxa, 2015Species of the genus Schinus Linnaeus (1753) (Anacardiaceae) are native to the Americas but are found in many tropical and subtropical parts of the world, where they are cultivated as ornamentals or crops (“pink peppercorns”) or they are invasive weeds. Schinus molle L.

The pepper tree,Schinus molle L.
Economic Botany, 1957Schinus molle, in its native habitat, Peru, is used variously as a mildly alcoholic beverage (fruit), medicine (leaf extracts and sap), and infrequently as a yellow dye and tannin. The species has been introduced into Mexico, the southwestern United States and southern Europe, but in none of these areas is the plant much more than an infrequent ...
