Heterophile Antibodies in Schistosomiasis Mansoni

The Journal of Parasitology, 1967
Heterophile-antibody titers were determined in sera from apparently healthy individuals and from patients infected with Schistosoma mansoni. The conglutination technique demonstrated ag- glutinating titers equal to or higher than 1:40 in 100% of the schistosome patients, in 80% of the pa- tients with helminthiases other than schistosomiasis, and in 62%

Splenomegaly in Schistosomiasis Mansoni

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1962
Summary Egg counts for Schistosoma mansoni in part of the population of a highly endemic town in Pernambuco, Brazil, showed that after reaching a maximum early in life, egg output decreased sharply. It is felt that acquired immunity may be involved. While splenomegaly in other parasitic or infectious diseases may start in infancy, spleen enlargement in

RENAL TRANSPLANTATION AND SCHISTOSOMIASIS MANSONI

Transplantation, 1987
Eleven patients with schistosomiasis mansoni received a renal transplant. In 5 patients, the schistosomiasis was asymptomatic and had been diagnosed by routine examinations and had no relationship to nephropathy. In 4 patients, the nephropathy was suggestive of being of schistosomal origin.
