Schizotypy and emotional memory

Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, 2011
Emotional dysfunction is a core feature of psychotic disorders. One expression of such dysfunction is a reduction of the emotion-induced enhancement of memory which is normally found in healthy individuals. Less severe disruption of emotional processing may also be present in individuals prone to 'unusual' psychosis-like experiences.

Emotion dysregulation and schizotypy

Psychiatry Research, 2009
In schizophrenia, blunted affect has been argued to reflect difficulties with the amplification of emotion expressive behavior. The aim of the present study was to assess whether ostensibly healthy individuals vulnerable to schizophrenia present with similar difficulties.

Schizotypy and false memory

Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, 2009
Using the Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm the present study examined the relationship between schizotypy and recognition memory. Participants scoring in the upper and lower quartile ranges for schizotypy (Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire brief version; SPQ-B) and on each of the SPQ-B subscales (cognitive-perceptual, interpersonal and ...

The taxonicity of schizotypy: A replication.

Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1995
P.E. Meehl's model (1962, 1990) of schizotypy and the development of schizophrenia implies that the structure of liability for schizophrenia is dichotomous, hypothesizing that a "schizogene" determines one's membership in a latent class (or taxon; P.E. Meehl & R. R. Golden, 1982).

Ethnicity, class and schizotypy

Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, 1999
This study investigated whether, similarly to schizophrenia, there is an increased rate of schizotypy among African-Caribbeans in the general population compared with white people in the UK. Since social adversity has been associated with schizophrenia in a number of studies, social class as well as ethnicity was explored.

Nightmares, dreams, and schizotypy

British Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1997
The theory that psychosis and dreaming share some common underlying mechanism finds support in the observation that chronic nightmare sufferers are at increased risk for psychopathology. We examined this connection in a large general population sample, administering a battery of psychosis proneness and other personality scales, together with a ...

Schizotypy

Current Directions in Psychological Science, 2006
Schizophrenia is the most devastating form of psychopathology known to humankind, and it has been slow to yield clues to its origins. Meehl's (1962 , 1990 ) model detailed the nature of the latent liability for schizophrenia known as schizotypy and provided a major organizing function for research on schizophrenia.

Developmental instability and schizotypy

Schizophrenia Research, 2000
It has been suggested that evidence of developmental disturbance of cognition and lateralisation in schizophrenia can be best understood from the perspective of developmental stability (DS), an indicator of the extent to which an individual develops according to a specified ontogenic programme in the presence of environmental noise.

Inhibition and facilitation in schizotypy

Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, 2008
Participants scoring high and low on a schizotypy scale (n=18 in each group) switched between naming words and naming colors in a Stroop task in congruent, neutral, and incongruent conditions. The findings were that, while being slower and less accurate overall than low schizotypes, the high schizotypy group did not display disproportionately greater ...

Schizotypy in Adolescence

Journal of Nervous & Mental Disease, 2008
Schizotypy is a multidimensional personality construct that appears to indicate psychosis proneness. Supposedly, schizotypal traits behave differently depending on a person's age and gender, but few studies have examined this relationship. In our study we used the Thinking and Perceptual Style Questionnaire and the Junior Schizotypy Scales.
