Analysis of the Colored Schlieren for Visualization of Ultrasonic Waves [PDF]
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974 Using white light in the schlieren technique of visualizing ultrasonic fields produces brilliantly colored images. The color seen depends on the charge of optical path length induced by the sound field. Prediction of the colors is possible by the CIE Tristimulus System. Chromaticity diagrams are presented for some standard cases.
