Visualization of Thermally Distributed Flow by the Schlieren Method

open access: yesJournal of Wind Engineering, 2005
The visualization of flow is one of the fundamental methods to investigate the dispersion characteristics of heat and air pollutants in urban areas. This research made a major attempt to visualize the thermally distributed flow by introducing the Schlieren system in the thermal stratification wind tunnel for the first time.

Effect of Seed Priming by Zinc‐Ion and Zinc‐Oxide Nanoparticle Enriched Plasma‐Activated Water in Osmotic‐Stressed Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2026.
Plasma treatment with metallic Zn stabilizes nitrite, while ZnO nanoparticles favour for nitrite oxidation. PAW seed priming alters seed coat, increases K⁺ efflux, improves germination, and enhances Zn uptake. Under osmotic stress, seedlings show higher NO levels, with improved cotyledon growth and stomatal formation, strengthening early stress ...

Simple, adjustable beam splitting element for differential interferometers based on photoelastic birefringence of a prismatic bar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We examine the prototypical Toepler optical arrangement for the visualization of phase objects and consider the effect of different contrast elements placed at the focus of the source.

How Is Colorectal Cancer Care Impacted by Global Crisis in Contrasting Healthcare Systems?—A Descriptive Study From Scotland and Switzerland During the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 818-828, April 2026.
Healthcare across Europe was affected by COVID‐19 pandemic lockdowns. How different national healthcare systems coped with this impact remains unclear. Healthcare in Switzerland differs significantly from that in Scotland, for example, in terms of centralization.

Investigating Spatial‐Temporal Optical Emission Spectroscopy of Unstable Positive Leaders in Long Sparks Under Atmospheric Pressure

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 458-471, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study explores exciting state species and reaction pathways in positive leaders to better understand the breakdown mechanisms of long air gap discharges and natural lightning. Emission spectra from an unstable positive leader in a 1 m rod‐plate air gap under switching impulse voltages were observed, spanning 300–800 nm.

Features of Supersonic Flow Around a Blunt Body in the Area of Junction with a Flat Surface

open access: yesFluids
This work studies the influence of a growing boundary layer on the process of supersonic flow around an aerodynamic body. The task is to select and implement in an experiment the parameters of a supersonic flow and to study the flow pattern near the ...

ORMDL Proteins Turnover via Proteasome and Autophagy Is Cell‐Type Dependent and Tied to Ceramide Homeostasis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
ORMDL proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) negatively regulate serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) activity in response to the rate of de novo sphingolipid synthesis. Disruption of ceramide homeostasis by myriocin or fumonisin B1 (FB1) appears to destabilize the ORMDL‐SPT complex, leading to ORMDL degradation as a feedback mechanism.

Combined single-pulse holography and time-resolved laser schlieren for flow visualization [PDF]

open access: yes
A pulsed ruby laser and continuous-wave argon ion laser were used in a combined setup at the Langley Expansion Tube for single pulse holography and time resolved laser schlieren with a common optical axis. The systems can be operated simultaneously for a
