Prospective Observation of 41 Perforations of the Schneiderian Membrane During Sinus Floor Elevation
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2008AbstractObjectives: The aim of this study was to follow 41 intraoperative perforations of the Schneiderian membrane during sinus floor elevation and to identify potential differences from patients without perforations.Material and methods: Two hundred and one sinus floor elevations were performed at the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery of

Collagenated Synthetic Bone Substitute Material for Sinus Floor Elevation at Sites With a Perforated Schneiderian Membrane [PDF]
Schneiderian membrane perforation (SMP) is the most common complication during sinus floor elevation (SFE). Conventional methods to repair SMP, such as using a collagen barrier, may be clinically demanding. The aim of the present study was to compare the effects of collagenated bone substitute materials with and without a collagen barrier to repair SMP

Perforation of the Schneiderian membrane constitutes a major intraoperative complication of maxillary sinus floor elevation with graft materials, but postoperative perforation of the sinus membrane is very rare. This case report demonstrates that conservative treatment involving drainage and the administration of systemic antibiotics can be used to ...

Perforation of the maxillary sinus membrane is a common complication during maxillary sinus elevation. Intraoperative perforation of the maxillary sinus membrane may complicate the procedure and indirectly lead to implant failure. Timely repair of the perforated maxillary sinus membrane can effectively improve the implant survival rate.

Lateral Sinus Floor Elevation in Cases of an Intact and Perforated Schneiderian Membrane
Proceedings of the Bulgarian Academy of SciencesThe study comprised 20 lateral sinus floor elevation cases performed in 18 patients. During surgery, in four cases, a perforation of the Schneiderian membrane was detected. An attempt to suture the perforated membrane may increase the risk of enlarging the perforation.
