Optimizing Metamaterial Inverse Design with 3D Conditional Diffusion Model and Data Augmentation
A generative AI model, the 3D conditional diffusion model (3D‐CDM), is introduced to enhance the inverse design of voxel‐based metamaterials. A data augmentation technique based on topological perturbation expands the dataset, further improving generation quality and accuracy.

Comparing School Choice and College Admission Mechanisms By Their Immunity to Strategic Admissions [PDF]
Recently dozens of school districts and college admissions systems around the world have reformed their admission rules. As a main motivation for these reforms the policymakers cited strategic flaws of the rules: students had strong incentives to game the system, which caused dramatic consequences for non-strategic students. However, almost none of the

Signaling the Competencies of High School Students to Employers [PDF]
[Excerpt] The fundamental cause of the low effort level of American students, parents, and voters in school elections is the absence of good signals of effort and accomplishment and the consequent lack of rewards for learning.

Ultralow‐Dimensionality Reduction for Identifying Critical Transitions by Spatial‐Temporal PCA
The proposed spatial‐temporal principal component analysis (stPCA) method analytically reduces high‐dimensional time‐series data to a single latent variable by transforming spatial information into temporal dynamics. By preserving the temporal properties of the original data, stPCA effectively identifies critical transitions and tipping points.

Vectorial crystallization problems and collective behavior [PDF]
We propose and analyze a class of vectorial crystallization problems, with applications to crystallization of anisotropic molecules and collective behavior such as birds flocking and fish schooling. We focus on two-dimensional systems of "oriented" particles: Admissible configurations are represented by vectorial empirical measures with density in ...

This study uncovers that CD38high monocytes discriminate sepsis and sterile inflammation and are associated with 28‐day mortality in bacterial sepsis. Targeting CD38 therapy reduces inflammatory response in monocytes and in sepsis mice model. Mechanistically, CD38‐HIF‐1α/glycolysis/MGO loop exacerbates sepsis‐induced immune dysregulation.

Risk factors for early mortality of lung cancer patients in France: A nationwide analysis
In France, almost 1 in 5 patients diagnosed with lung cancer died within 3 months following first hospitalization. Early mortality is higher for patients 70 years, for men, for those with metastatic disease at diagnosis, for patients hospitalized via the emergency room and with first hospitalization lasting >30 days.

A dual‐modal wearable pulse detection system is developed for sleep apnea monitoring by integrating a self‐powered PENG and PPG sensor with a biomimetic fingertip structure. Through a two‐stage detection strategy, continuous PPW monitoring and on‐demand PPG detection achieve high‐accuracy sleep apnea recognition while maintaining low power consumption.

Comparing ACT and NLN PAX Exams for Preadmission to an Associate\u27s Degree Nursing Program [PDF]
Outside of using the ACT exam for admission into the University, a pre-admission exam for the School of Nursing has never been required until recently. A correlational study was completed to determine the relationship between the performance on the ACT ...
