Remyelination in the chicken sciatic nerve
Neurochemistry International, 1982Remyelination in the chicken sciatic nerve occurring after the injection of diphtheria toxin was studied. The rates of fast axonal transport and conduction velocities were measured sixty days after the injection of the toxin. Fast axonal transport rates were found to have returned to normal in the remyelinated nerves, but conduction velocity was ...

SCIATIC AND FEMORAL NERVE BLOCK
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1952One of the most useful yet most neglected anesthetic procedures is the combination of sciatic and femoral nerve block. The physician who treats a large number of diabetics or patients with minor or major accidental injuries of the legs will find this block most useful. The technique of a satisfactory sciatic-femoral nerve block is simple to master, and

Training of nerve suturing techniques allows the novice surgeon to restore the structural and functional integrity of the nerves in clinical practice with greater confidence. The most practical model for training is a motor nerve with more than two fascicles.

Acetylcholine activity in the sciatic nerve
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1963Abstract As measured on both the guinea pig ileum and the frog rectus abdominis muscle, acetylcholine (Ach) is uniformly distributed along the sciatic nerve. Measured on the ileum, about 75 per cent of the Ach activity is found in the soluble portion of the cell, while on the rectus abdominis, the corresponding figure is about 35 per cent.

A unique variation of the sciatic nerve
Clinical Anatomy, 2008The normal course of the sciatic nerve out of the pelvis is through the greater sciatic foramen, below the inferior border of piriformis muscle and descends between the greater trochanter and the ischial tuberosity (Williams, 1995). There is evidence for anatomical variations of the course or level of division of the sciatic nerve (Pokorny et al., 2006)

The parasacral sciatic nerve block†
Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 1997The clinical utility of a new parasacral approach for conduction block of the sciatic nerve was investigated, with critical examination of onset, extent, and success rates when this block was used for surgical procedures below the knee.Thirty ASA I-III patients presenting for surgery on the lower limb were enrolled. All received 30 mL of 1.5% lidocaine

Entrapment of the sciatic nerve may occur at various areas along its course and may be difficult to differentiate from lesions within the spinal canal, such as a herniated disc. Associated with low back pain, it may make the problem even more difficult, although a detailed history and careful examination may give a clue as to the source of the problem.

Ultrasonography of sciatic nerve endometriosis
Muscle & Nerve, 2016ABSTRACTIntroduction: We describe the ultrasonographic findings of sciatic nerve endometriosis. Methods: Two premenopausal women with catamenial sciatica symptoms were examined, the first without a history of endometriosis, the second with previously confirmed endometriosis of the ovary. Ultrasonography, extending from the sciatic notch to the level of

Traumatic sciatic nerve contusion
Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, 2000A case of isolated post-traumatic sciatic nerve contusion is reported, sustained after direct blunt trauma to the region of the buttock after a fall. Evaluation of this nerve injury not only included an EMG/ NCS, but also confirmatory evidence was obtained using the Minor's iodine-starch test to detect disturbances of sweat secretion.
