Slow Wave Sleep and Emotion Regulation in Adolescents With Depressive Symptoms: An Experimental Pilot Study

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Emotion regulation deficits are a hallmark of adolescent depression, and sleep greatly impacts emotion regulation. Initial data indicate acute mood benefits of slow‐wave sleep deprivation (SWSD) in depressed adults, but it is unclear whether this may occur through improvement in emotion regulation.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 11, Page 3266-3286, November 2025.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 11, Page 3035-3059, November 2025.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

RKIP overexpression reduces lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness and sensitizes cells to EGFR‐targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 11, Page 3205-3222, November 2025.
RKIP, a metastasis suppressor protein, modulates key oncogenic pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. In silico analyses linked low RKIP expression to poor survival. Functional studies revealed RKIP overexpression reduces tumor aggressiveness and enhances sensitivity to EGFR‐targeted therapies, while its loss promotes resistance.
