A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Thermoelectric Modules Incorporating MgAgSb and Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 Synthesized Using a Melting Method
A scalable synthesis method for a thermoelectric material of MgAgSb is established. A thermoelectric power module of MgAgSb/Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 is fabricated, showing the conversion efficiency of 7.4% at ΔT = 315 K. The performance is comparable to conventional Bi2Te3 modules when they are operated with an air‐cooled heat exchanger.

The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Law\u27s Visual Afterlife: Violence, Popular Culture, and Translation Theory [PDF]
In Walter Benjamin’s essay, “The Task of the Translator,” Benjamin argues that translations enable a work’s afterlife. Afterlife is not what happens after death but what allows a work (or event or idea) to go on living and to evolve over time and place ...

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Vers une poétique culturelle du sonore science-fictionnel
Long studied primarily through its verbal and visual expressions, science fiction fully harnesses sound to evoke effects of estrangement and familiarity that contribute to the sensory, cognitive, and affective construction of its narratives and worlds ...
