Advanced mapping of science and technology

Scientometrics, 1998
Abstract  In the paper we will present the adjustments we implemented on the mapping procedure. We consider them as important improvements to make the maps more user-friendly. The improvements concern the implementation of graphical user interfaces, and the addition of ‘map-external’ information.

Mapping the intersection of science and philosophy

Proceedings of the 13th ACM/IEEE-CS joint conference on Digital libraries, 2013
This poster presents what we believe to be the first attempt to empirically measure and visualize the cross-pollination of science and philosophy through citation patterns. Using the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy as a proxy for the philosophical literature, we plot SEP citations onto the UCSD Map of Science to highlight areas of science which ...

The Clinical Science of Euthymia: A Conceptual Map

Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics, 2022
Euthymia is a trans-diagnostic construct characterized by lack of mood disturbances; presence of positive affect; balance of psychological well-being dimensions, flexibility, consistency, and resistance to stress. The aim of this critical review is to draw a conceptual map of euthymia. Relationships with other constructs, continuum between euthymia and

Toward a consensus map of science

Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2008
AbstractA consensus map of science is generated from an analysis of 20 existing maps of science. These 20 maps occur in three basic forms: hierarchical, centric, and noncentric (or circular). The consensus map, generated from consensus edges that occur in at least half of the input maps, emerges in a circular form.

A hybrid mapping of information science

Scientometrics, 2008
Previous studies have shown that hybrid clustering methods that incorporate textual content and bibliometric information can outperform clustering methods that use only one of these components. In this paper we apply a hybrid clustering method based on Fisher’s inverse chisquare to integrate full-text with citations and to provide a mapping of the ...

Science as a Map in Technological Search

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2001
Abstract A large body of work argues that scientific research increases the rate of technological advance, and with it economic growth. The precise mechanism through which science accelerates the rate of invention, however, remains an open question.

Various methods for the mapping of science

Scientometrics, 1987
The dynamic mapping of science using the data in theScience Citation Index was put on the research agenda of science studies byDe Solla Price in the mid 1960s. Recently, proponents of ‘co-citation cluster analysis’ have claimed that in principle their methodology makes such mapping possible.

Knowledge map of information science

Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2007
AbstractThis article is part of a group of four articles that resulted from a Critical Delphi study conducted in 2003–2005. The study, “Knowledge Map of Information Science,” was aimed at exploring the foundations of information science. The international panel was composed of 57 leading scholars from 16 countries who represent nearly all the major ...

Bibliometric maps of field of science

Information Processing & Management, 2005
The present paper is devoted to two directions in algorithmic classificatory procedures: the journal co-citation analysis as an example of citation networks and lexical analysis of keywords in the titles and texts. What is common to those approaches is the general idea of normalization of deviations of the observed data from the mathematical ...
