Seek and learn: Automated identification of microevents in animal behaviour using envelopes of acceleration data and machine learning

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 11, Issue 12, Page 1639-1651, December 2020., 2020
Abstract Animal‐borne accelerometers have been used across more than 120 species to infer biologically significant information such as energy expenditure and broad behavioural categories. While the accelerometer's high sensitivity to movement and fast response times present the unprecedented opportunity to resolve fine‐scale behaviour, leveraging this ...

New puncturing pattern for bad interleavers in turbo-codes [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2009
This paper presents a new method of puncturing for worst interleavers. We study via simulation the effect of different combinations of tow puncturing patterns and three classes of interleavers on the performance of punctured turbo-coded systems.

Streakline-based closed-loop control of a bluff body flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A novel closed-loop control methodology is introduced to stabilize a cylinder wake flow based on images of streaklines. Passive scalar tracers are injected upstream the cylinder and their concentration is monitored downstream at certain image sectors of ...

Study of a Novel Bi‐Layered Thermoplastic Polyurethane Patch for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 7, 7 April 2026.
Large congenital diaphragmatic hernia remains a challenge due to the poor compatibility of current prostheses. To tackle this problem, a bilayer thermoplastic polyurethane patch with tunable mechanical properties is engineered, whose fibrous side supports rapid fibroblast and myoblast colonization, while the smooth film limits adhesions.
