Deletion of Proton Gradient Regulation 5 (PGR5) and PGR5-Like 1 (PGRL1) proteins promote sustainable light-driven hydrogen production in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii due to increased PSII activity under sulfur deprivation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Continuous hydrogen photo-production under sulfur deprivation was studied in the Chlamydomonas reinhardtii pgr5 pgrl1 double mutant and respective single mutants.

VEGF-A/Notch-Induced Podosomes Proteolyse Basement Membrane Collagen-IV during Retinal Sprouting Angiogenesis

open access: yesCell Reports, 2016
During angiogenic sprouting, endothelial tip cells emerge from existing vessels in a process that requires vascular basement membrane degradation. Here, we show that F-actin/cortactin/P-Src-based matrix-degrading microdomains called podosomes contribute ...

Endurance Exercise Ability in the Horse: A Trait with Complex Polygenic Determinism

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2017
Endurance horses are able to run at more than 20 km/h for 160 km (in bouts of 30–40 km). This level of performance is based on intense aerobic metabolism, effective body heat dissipation and the ability to endure painful exercise.

The genome and diet of a 35,000‐year‐old Canis lupus specimen from the Paleolithic painted cave, Chauvet‐Pont d'Arc, France

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2022
The Chauvet‐Pont‐d'Arc Cave (Ardèche, France) contains some of the oldest Paleolithic paintings recorded to date, as well as thousands of bones of the extinct cave bear, and some remains and footprints of other animals.

Proteomic Study of SUMOylation During Solanum tuberosum–Phytophthora infestans Interactions

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2017
Invasive plant pathogens have developed the ability to modify the metabolism of their host, promoting metabolic processes that facilitate the growth of the pathogen at the general expense of the host.

A Deep‐Red‐Absorbing Osmium(II) Complex as a Photosensitizer for Photodynamic Therapy Inducing Immunogenic Cell Death

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A deep‐red‐excited osmium(II) photosensitizer (Os2) induces immunogenic cell death (ICD) under 740 nm irradiation and triggers robust anti‐tumor immune responses both in vitro and in vivo. ABSTRACT Immunogenic cell death (ICD), which converts tumor cells into their own vaccine, plays a pivotal role in the development of novel anticancer therapies. Here,

Catalyst‐Free Cyanation of Arenes by Acetonitrile in a Plasma–Liquid Microreactor

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
An original approach of arylnitrile synthesis was developed by generating an argon plasma in contact with solutions of arene in acetonitrile within a gas‐liquid microreactor. Plasma activation of acetonitrile generated cyano radicals, enabling a catalyst‐free C‐H cyanation of arenes.

Magnetoencephalographic source imaging improves localization of the epileptogenic zone in multimodal imaging evaluation

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To assess the added diagnostic value of magnetoencephalographic source imaging (MSI) beyond conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and fluorodeoxyglucose–positron emission tomography (FDG‐PET) in localizing the epileptogenic zone, with stereo‐electroencephalography (SEEG) and surgical resection serving as reference standards ...
