Methods for fractionation and scintillation counting of radioisotope-labeled polyacrylamide gels

open access: yes, 1970
This paper describes two polyacrylamide gel fractionators. One can be easily constructed from disposable syringes and used for fractionating standard-size analytical gels. The second is more complex but can be used for fractionating miniature gels.

Human Leukocyte Elastase Triggered Nanoparticles for Targeted Antimicrobial Delivery and Oral Microbial Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study explores enzyme‐responsive nanoparticles for targeted antimicrobial release in inflamed oral environments. Nanoparticles formed by complexing peptides and chlorhexidine respond to human leukocyte elastase and release chlorhexidine selectively. P7 (ECAAPVCE)‐based formulations show optimal properties and stability, with antimicrobial activity

Datação radiocarbônica de sítios arqueológicos do tipo sambaqui pela técnica de absorção de CO2: uma alternativa à síntese benzênica

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2004
The sambaquis are archaeological sites with remains of pre-historical Brazilian civilizations. They look like small hills containing different kinds of shells, animal and fish bones, small artifacts and even human skeletons.

Scintillation and Cherenkov Photon Counting Detectors with Analog Silicon Photomultipliers for TOF-PET

open access: yes, 2023
Standard signal processing approaches for scintillation detectors in positron emission tomography (PET) derive accurate estimates for 511 keV photon time of interaction and energy imparted to the detection media from aggregate characteristics of ...

Improved methods for the assay and activation of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1979
A simple and rapid mixed-phase method for the quantitative assay of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl (HMG)-CoA reductase and a procedure for the efficient reactivation of Mg-ATP-inactivated microsomal HMG-CoA reductase by potato acid phosphatase are described.

Measurements of neutrons produced by high-energy muons at the Boulby Underground Laboratory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present the first measurements of the muon-induced neutron flux at the Boulby Underground Laboratory. The experiment was carried out with an 0.73 tonne liquid scintillator that also served as an anticoincidence system for the ZEPLIN-II direct dark ...
