Early synapsids neurosensory diversity revealed by CT and synchrotron scanning

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Non‐mammaliaform synapsids (NMS) represent the closest relatives of today's mammals among the early amniotes. Exploring their brain and nervous system is key to understanding how mammals evolved. Here, using CT and Synchrotron scanning, we document for the first time three extreme cases of neurosensory and behavioral adaptations that probe ...

Catalytic Activity of Cobalt Ferrites in Water Oxidation Reactions and Its Defect Dependency

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Cobalt ferrite spinels calcined at 400–600 °C show temperature‐dependent changes in crystallinity, particle size, and defect concentration. A combination of PXRD, BET, SEM, Mössbauer spectroscopy, magnetometry, and PALS reveals how defect landscapes govern opposing trends in chemical versus electrochemical water oxidation.

Glycerol carbonate formation from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate using lithium‐based catalysts

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Excess glycerol from biodiesel production can be sustainably converted into value‐added products like glycerol carbonate, for its use in polymers, solvents, and as ecofriendly alternative as green chemical in various chemical industries. This study aims to synthesize a catalyst optimized for the glycerol and dimethyl carbonate (DMC) conversion

Discovery of Oxyacanthine Dihydrochloride Monohydrate Polymorphs from Obfuscated Samples by Microcrystal Electron Diffraction

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
The practical application of microcrystal electron diffraction is demonstrated to identify two polymorphic crystal structures of oxyacanthine dihydrochloride monohydrate from obfuscated samples that had been mislabeled as "berbamine dihydrochloride".

Opium trade and use during the Late Bronze Age: Organic residue analysis of ceramic vessels from the burials of Tel Yehud, Israel

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Organic residue analysis was conducted on various vessels from burials at Tel Yehud, Israel. The analyses led to new reliable evidence for the presence of opioid alkaloids and their decomposition products. This research revitalizes a decades‐old discussion on the presence and function of the opium trade across a cultural region of utmost ...
