PMT calibration of a scintillation detector using primary scintillation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Instrumentation, 2015
We have studied the calibration of PMTs in scintillation detectors, inducing single electron response on the PMT from primary scintillation produced by x-ray interaction. The results agree with those obtained by the commonly used single electron response (SER) method, which uses LED light pulses to induce the PMT SER.

RESPONSE OF CsI:Pb SCINTILLATOR CRYSTAL TO NEUTRON RADIATION

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
The helium-3 world crisis requires a development of new methods of neutron detection to replace commonly used 3He proportional counters. In the past decades, great effort was made to developed efficient and fast scintillators to detect radiation.

Comparative Test of Novel Fluorescent Optical Antennas for LED‐ and Laser‐Based Optical Wireless Communications

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
New fluorescent optical antennas are realized and tested for diverse Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) applications. The fluorescent concentrator slabs, based on different organic fluorophores, convert and convey the digital data conveyed through intensity modulation of incoming light toward a small‐area photodiode.

Composite materials based on quantum dots and polymer matrices for gamma radiation registration in the next-generation scintillation detectors [PDF]

open access: yesDigital Diagnostics
BACKGROUND: The development of new scintillation materials based on fluorescent nanocrystals with a perovskite structure of CsPbBr3 composition and CdSe/ZnS quantum dots is a pressing topic that is being pursued by numerous scientific groups [1–4].

Measuring Thickness-Dependent Relative Light Yield and Detection Efficiency of Scintillator Screens

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2020
Digital camera-based neutron imaging systems consisting of a neutron scintillator screen optically coupled to a digital camera are the most common digital neutron imaging system used in the neutron imaging community and are available at any state-of-the ...

Interstellar scintillation is an indicator of astrometric stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We examine the relationship between astrometric stability and astrophysical properties in flat-spectrum radio-loud quasars making up the celestial reference frame. We use position determinations from geodetic VLBI measurements, and develop a new metric for source position stability.

From Photo‐Damage to Self‐Healing in Thin Film Pb‐Iodide Perovskites: Action at a Distance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorescence imaging uncovers pronounced spatial and temporal changes in photoluminescence of halide perovskite films following laser‐induced damage. Modifications spatially extend well beyond the illuminated region and evolve over distinct time scales ranging from seconds to many hours, revealing material‐specific self‐healing pathways. These findings

High‐Fidelity Information Transmission Through the Turbulent Atmosphere Utilizing Partially Coherent Cylindrical Vector Beams

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A novel free‐space optical communication protocol that combines the benefits of partially coherent light sources with the decoding capabilities of convolutional neural networks is proposed. This approach establishes a robust communication link that can withstand atmospheric turbulence.
