Viruses of the Plant Pathogenic Fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
2013Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is a notorious plant fungal pathogen with a broad host range including many important crops, such as oilseed rape, soybean, and numerous vegetable crops. Hypovirulence-associated mycoviruses have attracted much attention because of their potential as biological control agents for combating plant fungal diseases and for use in ...

Weeds as an inoculum source of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
2003Numerous weed species could be alternative hosts for diseases of cultivated plants, among which fungi play an important role (Anikster 1982, Jenkinson and Parry 1994, Roy at all. 1994, 1997). Velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti Medik.), ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) and rough cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium L.) are very aggressive weeds in arable ...

Pentitol oxidoreductases inSclerotinia sclerotiorum
Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1973Pentitol: NADP and pentitol: NAD oxidoreductase were detected in cell-free extracts of mycelia and sclerotia ofSclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) D By. grown on synthetic liquid medium containingd-xtlose,l-arabinose ord-ribose. Both enzymes were similar to those reported from other fungi. The enzymes were not detected when the fungus was grown on a medium

We have previously presented convincing evidence in support of a viral etiology for the debilitation phenotype exhibited by strain Ep-1PN of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. To explore the possible mechanisms underlying fungal pathogenicity and hyphal growth, potential genes whose expression was down-regulated in Ep-1PN were identified from a cDNA library of ...

Notes on the ultrastructure of the microconidium and stroma in Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1970An electron microscope study has been done on the structure of microconidia and stroma of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The microconidia showed the usual cell organelles already described for other species of this genus, e.g. a large nucleus and large lipid body, a few mitochondria and sparse endoplasmic reticulum.

Purification of the β-glucoside from Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1988A beta-glucosidase (EC 3.2.1.21) has been isolated from culture filtrates of the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The protein was purified by gel filtration on a column of Bio-Gel P-300 and by ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-Bio-Gel A. The molecular weight, determined by gel filtration, was 240,000.
