Mannitol biosynthesis inSclerotinia sclerotiorum
Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1972Cell-free extracts of mycelia and sclerotia ofSclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) D By. grown on synthetic liquid medium with various carbon sources containedd-mannitol-1-phosphate: NAD oxidoreductase (EC 1.1.1.17) and weakd-mannitol: NADP oxidoreductase (EC 1.1.1.67) activity.

Pentitol oxidoreductases inSclerotinia sclerotiorum
Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1973Pentitol: NADP and pentitol: NAD oxidoreductase were detected in cell-free extracts of mycelia and sclerotia ofSclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) D By. grown on synthetic liquid medium containingd-xtlose,l-arabinose ord-ribose. Both enzymes were similar to those reported from other fungi. The enzymes were not detected when the fungus was grown on a medium

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum populations: clonal or recombining?
Tropical Plant Pathology, 2018Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, a homothallic plant pathogen, undergoes sexual reproduction via haploid selfing (equivalent to clonal reproduction), and produces long-lasting surviving vegetative structures called sclerotia, enhancing clonal persistence and spread. Thus it is not surprising to detect clones of the species.

FIRST REPORT OF SCLEROTINIA SCLEROTIORUM CAUSING
Journal of Plant Pathology, 2017In September 2015, approximately 50% of Lens culinaris plants were observed in some farmland in Qazvin province (Iran) showing disease symptoms including rotting in stem, pod, flower and leaves. To obtain pure cultures, fourteen sclerotia were collected from the field, disinfected with 1% NaOCl, placed on potato sucrose agar (PSA) with 100 µg/ml ...

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum: An Evaluation of Virulence Theories
Annual Review of Phytopathology, 2018Oxalic acid production in Sclerotinia sclerotiorum has long been associated with virulence. Research involving UV-induced, genetically undefined mutants that concomitantly lost oxalate accumulation, sclerotial formation, and pathogenicity supported the conclusion that oxalate is an essential pathogenicity determinant of S. sclerotiorum.

Viruses of the Plant Pathogenic Fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
2013Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is a notorious plant fungal pathogen with a broad host range including many important crops, such as oilseed rape, soybean, and numerous vegetable crops. Hypovirulence-associated mycoviruses have attracted much attention because of their potential as biological control agents for combating plant fungal diseases and for use in ...
