Sclerotinia sclerotiorum populations: clonal or recombining?
Tropical Plant Pathology, 2018Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, a homothallic plant pathogen, undergoes sexual reproduction via haploid selfing (equivalent to clonal reproduction), and produces long-lasting surviving vegetative structures called sclerotia, enhancing clonal persistence and spread. Thus it is not surprising to detect clones of the species.

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 2018Oxalic acid production in Sclerotinia sclerotiorum has long been associated with virulence. Research involving UV-induced, genetically undefined mutants that concomitantly lost oxalate accumulation, sclerotial formation, and pathogenicity supported the conclusion that oxalate is an essential pathogenicity determinant of S. sclerotiorum.

Purification of the β-glucoside from Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1988A beta-glucosidase (EC 3.2.1.21) has been isolated from culture filtrates of the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The protein was purified by gel filtration on a column of Bio-Gel P-300 and by ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-Bio-Gel A. The molecular weight, determined by gel filtration, was 240,000.
