Spin Crossover around Room Temperature: Effects of Remote Ligand Symmetry Breaking within Jäger‐Type Iron(II) Complexes

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
Remote symmetry breaking in Jäger‐type iron(II) complexes shifts stepwise spin crossover (SCO) profiles to continuous profiles with transition temperatures around room temperature. In a bottom‐up approach, we studied the feedback of slight molecular modifications on the spin crossover (SCO) properties of otherwise structurally conserved iron(II ...

Liquid jet capabilities for ultrafast chemistry at the SwissFEL Alvra instrument

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
The technical aspects of the Alvra endstation are outlined and its scientific capabilities are demonstrated with commissioning results obtained during the early years of SwissFEL's operation. The Alvra experimental station at the Swiss X‐ray free‐electron laser, SwissFEL, investigates ultrafast dynamics in chemical and biological systems using X‐ray ...

Rational acquisition of laboratory equipment: an accurate mathematical model to estimate the trade‐offs in shared and nonshared equipment

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, EarlyView.
We present a quantitative framework combining cost modelling and queueing theory to estimate hourly access costs, waiting times and congestion levels for shared high‐end scientific equipment. The approach is general, illustrated with cryo‐electron microscopy examples, and implemented in an open‐access online calculator to support evidence‐based ...

Torpor‐assisted migration: Regular use of shallow torpor reduces rest‐phase energy expenditure for songbirds during migration

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Migrating songbirds regularly use shallow torpor (up to 98% of birds for some species) to save energy (up to 42%) during inactive periods. This Ruby‐crowned Kinglet Corthylio calendula that was captured after a spring snowstorm highlights the value of being able to save energy when encountering unfavourable conditions.

US Farm Bill in 2025: Ad Hoc Assistance becomes an Expanded Multi‐Year Safety Net Loi agricole américaine de 2025 : l'aide ponctuelle devient un filet de sécurité pluriannuel élargi US Farm Bill in 2025: Ad‐hoc‐Beihilfen werden zu einem erweiterten mehrjährigen Sicherheitsnetz

open access: yesEuroChoices, EarlyView.
Summary The 2025 US farm bill converts ad hoc farm assistance since 2018 into a projected US$ 62 billion farm safety net expansion within multi‐year legislation. Usually stand‐alone with strong bipartisan support, the 2025 edition is largely provisions in a far‐reaching, partisan budget law. The farm safety net is expanded by cutting food assistance to

La Mecánica Newtoniana en Contra de Zenón (y de Glazebrook)

open access: yesTecnoLógicas, 2006
This paper offers the solution for the four Zeno's paradoxes of motion obtained under Newtonian Mechanics. With this, it is defended that the mathematization of sorne physical phenomena does not give rise to contradictions.

Discovery and characterization of a small‐molecule enteropeptidase inhibitor, SCO‐792

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives, 2019
Enteropeptidase, localized into the duodenum brush border, is a key enzyme catalyzing the conversion of pancreatic trypsinogen proenzyme to active trypsin, thereby regulating protein digestion and energy homeostasis.

Testicular histopathology and its association with germ cell numbers, serum concentrations of reproductive hormones, and semen quality

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background It is well‐established that spermatogenesis, semen quality, and reproductive hormones are interlinked. It is, however, less well‐described how various specific testicular histopathologies are linked to reproductive hormones and semen quality.
