Comparison of Scramjet and Shcramjet Propulsion for an Hypersonic Waverider Configuration
44th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2008Ramjet propulsion is often proposed for airbreathing applications with speeds higher than Mach 3. However, for speeds higher than Mach 5, the performance of a ramjet drops significantly and the scramjet is the preferred option. The shockinduced combustion ramjet, or shcramjet, is also an interesting alternative at higher flight speeds.

Radiative heating in scramjet combustors
31st Thermophysics Conference, 1996Currently, there is considerable interest in scramjet engines for hypersonic aircraft and missiles. This paper presents preliminary calculations of the radiative heating of the walls of scramjet combustion chambers. The analysis assumes isothermal, constant property ow elds that are representative of actual combustor ow elds.

Numerical study of a scramjet engine flow field

The program numerically solves the full two-dimensional Navier-Stokes and species equations in the engine inlet and combustor, allowing consideration of flow separation and possible inlet-combustor interactions.
