A Mixing Process Influenced by Wall Jet-Induced Shock Waves in Supersonic Flow

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
With the development of hypersonic air-breathing propulsion systems, such as the supersonic combustion ramjet (Scramjet) and rocket-based combined cycle (RBCC) engines, the mixing process of supersonic airstream with fuel in the engine combustor has been

Leading-to-trailing edge theoretical design of a generic scramjet

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
The aerospace vehicle flying at hypersonic speed, using an airbreathing propulsion system based on supersonic combustion (scramjet) technology, requires a highly integrated system without moving parts, making the propulsion system and vehicle shape ...

Wavelet-based Adaptive Techniques Applied to Turbulent Hypersonic Scramjet Intake Flows

open access: yes, 2013
The simulation of hypersonic flows is computationally demanding due to large gradients of the flow variables caused by strong shock waves and thick boundary or shear layers.

Numerical study of detonation wave propagation modes in annular channels

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Modes of detonation wave propagation in annular channels were investigated numerically by using the adaptive mesh refinement technique. Two-dimensional, reactive Euler equations with a detailed hydrogen/oxygen reaction model were adopted in the ...

Microstructure, mechanical, and thermal properties of compositionally complex (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2‒LaB6 ceramics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Novel compositionally complex borides, (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2 and (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2‒LaB6, were fabricated using spark plasma sintering process. (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2‒LaB6 exhibits a dual‐phase microstructure, in which (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2 is a primary phase with the hexagonal structure and LaB6 is a secondary phase with a cubic structure.

Continuous and Discrete Adjoints to the Euler Equations for Fluids

open access: yes, 2011
Adjoints are used in optimization to speed-up computations, simplify optimality conditions or compute sensitivities. Because time is reversed in adjoint equations with first order time derivatives, boundary conditions and transmission conditions through ...
