Scrap Tire Disposal Process

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1975
Abstract Experimental results are presented which indicate that scrap rubber vulcanizates, typical of today's tires, can be depolymerized to a product which is essentially a carbon black dispersion in oil. The depolymerization is free radical in nature and requires an efficient chain transfer agent to prevent hardening of the vulcanizate and to

Copyrolysis of scrap tires with waste lubricant oil

open access: yesFuel Processing Technology, 2005
Two different types of scrap tires, passenger car tire (PCT) and truck tire (TT) with waste lubricant oil (WLO) were copyrolyzed in a fixed bed reactor at the temperatures of 550, 650 and 800 degrees C under nitrogen atmosphere. Copyrolysis products were

The Pyrolysis of Scrap Tire with Lignite

Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects, 2011
Abstract Mustafa Kemal Pasa lignite obtained from the Mustafa Kemal Pasa region of Bursa, Turkey was subjected to pyrolysis with scrap tires. Effects of the pyrolysis conditions, such as temperature, weight percent of the scrap tires in the blends, and synergism on the results, was investigated.

Scrap Tires: Management and Economics

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 1993
This paper provides a description of tire recycling conditions in the state of Wisconsin, a summary of the status of legislation affecting tire disposal in the United States, and a list of the major scrap-tire applications. The paper also provides an evaluation of the economics of the scrap-tire processing industry. The economics of the entire disposal

Structural performance of scrap tire culverts

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2001
Culverts constructed of whole truck tires are a cost-effective alternative for draining water from small drainage basins with areas up to several hectares. Truck tire culvert design involves both hydraulic and structural performance considerations. This paper focuses on the structural considerations.

Scrap Tire Culverts: Hydraulics and Design

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1999
Reusing whole scrap tires as a culvert is a cost-effective alternative to draining water from small drainage basins. The complete design of a scrap tire culvert must consider both structural and hydraulic performance. Hydraulic considerations are the focus of this report.

Use of Scrap Tires in Road Construction

Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, 1992
Growing piles of discarded tires create fire and health hazards. Current disposal methods are wasteful and costly. This paper presents the results of an investigation into the potential of shredded tires as fill material in road construction. A test road was built to study the constructability, durability, and performance of tire chips as a new ...

Scrap tire-beer bottle concrete

Matériaux et Constructions, 1972
A set of experiments are described where the fundamental uniaxial tension and compression properties of an asphaltic concrete composed of scrap tires, crushed beer bottles, and asphalt were determined using constant strain rate tests. The analyses included statistical evaluations and approximations of the moduli, compliances, and times to failure for ...

Scrap Tires as Artificial Reefs

2018
Many tires are recapped to prolong their life. This may postpone consignment to the scrap heap but the time will come when the tire must be removed from service for safety’s sake. Carbon black, normally produced by the incomplete combustion of oil, soon may be produced using scrap rubber in the process.
