Confocal micro-PIV measurements of three-dimensional profiles of cell suspension flow in a square microchannel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A detailed measurement of the blood flow velocity profile in microchannels in vitro is fundamental to better understand the biomechanics of microcirculation.

Structure‐Aware Transformer for Shadow Detection

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
We propose a structure‐aware transformer network for robust shadow detection. An edge‐guided multi‐task learning framework is designed to predict shadow maps with rich structures. An auxiliary semantic‐aware learning is introduced to overcome the interference from complex scenes.

Synthesis of SulfoCy5‐ and SulfoCy7‐αGalCer Probes as Chemical Tools for Investigating the Uptake of Liposomal αGalCer Conjugates by Antigen Presenting Cells

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 27, Issue 48, December 23, 2024.
Chemical synthesis of sulfoCy7‐αGalCer and sulfoCy5‐αGalCer as probes to unravel the mechanism of action of liposomal αGalCer conjugates, such as antigen‐αGalCer synthetic vaccines, and to understand the fate of their components. Herein we present the synthesis and formulation in liposomes of sulfoCy7‐αGalCer and sulfoCy5‐αGalCer probes, followed by ...

Combinatorial Property Mapping of Titanium‐Zirconium Thin Film Libraries as Screening for Medical Material Candidates

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 221, Issue 19, October 2024.
Ti–Zr thin film libraries in the range of 40–70 at% Ti are analyzed via different spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The wettability, hardness, and elastic modulus are obtained along with the electrochemical characteristic of anodically grown oxides in phosphate buffered saline.

Concepts in Light Microscopy of Viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Viruses threaten humans, livestock, and plants, and are difficult to combat. Imaging of viruses by light microscopy is key to uncover the nature of known and emerging viruses in the quest for finding new ways to treat viral disease and deepening the ...

Flow behaviour of labeled red blood cells in microchannels : a confocal micro-PTV assessment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The development of optical experimental techniques has contributed to obtain explanations on the blood flow behaviour through microvessels. Although the past results have been valuable, detailed studies on the flow properties of blood in the ...

Combinatorial Analysis of Silver‐Palladium Alloy Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 221, Issue 19, October 2024.
Combinatorial analysis of Ag–Pd alloy thin films finds stable total impedance and increasingly less‐pronounced phase shift in the frequency range of 100 mHz to 10 kHz after polarization to 4 V. Capacitances are determined in the nF cm−2 range, and charge transfer resistances in the kΩ cm−2 range.

Velocity measurements of physiological flows in microchannels using a confocal micro-PIV system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The detail measurements of velocity profiles of in vitro blood flow in micorchannels are fundamental for a better understanding on the biomechanics of the microcirculation. Despite the high amount of research in microcirculation, there is not yet any
