Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Location of the free thiol group in bovine [beta]-lactoglobulin A, B, and C : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]
Under non-reducing sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) conditions unheated samples of β-lactoglobulin (β-LG) A, B and C all run as a single band, the A variant having a slightly lower mobility than the B and C variants ...

Protein Ingredients Control in Gluten Free Products Using SDS-PAGE, Developed Competitive Enzyme Immunoassays and Commercial ELISA Kits. [PDF]
Some protein ingredients declared in the label of gluten free products are allergenic proteins (milk, soy and egg). The proper identification of these proteins in food products is important for consumers who have food allergies.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

GLUTENIN LOCI VARIABILITY OF CROATIAN WHEAT GERMPLASM [PDF]
Glutenins loci were used for variability estimation in 50 varieties of hexaploid winter wheat originated from Croatian breeding centres. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) in presence of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) was used for determination of ...
