Jusqu’où va la mer ? Une exploration des marges de l’anthropologie maritime
Maritime anthropology federates, since the 1970s, numerous research studies on coastal societies. Emphasizing the singularity of the experience of life at sea, maritime anthropology particularly leaned until now on the comparative ethnography of fishing ...

Untangling the Incoherent and Coherent Scattering Components in GNSS-R and Novel Applications
As opposed to monostatic radars where incoherent backscattering dominates, in bistatic radars, such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems Reflectometry (GNSS-R), the forward scattered signals exhibit both an incoherent and a coherent component.

Is the phase of plane waves an invariant?
Based on the invariance of the phase of waves, plane waves was shown to propagate with negative frequencies in a medium which moves at superluminal speeds opposite to the propagation direction of plane waves.

Quantifying the influence of sea ice on ocean microseism using observations from the Bering Sea, Alaska [PDF]
Microseism is potentially affected by all processes that alter ocean wave heights. Because strong sea ice prevents large ocean waves from forming, sea ice can therefore significantly affect microseism amplitudes.

Influence of wind on wave heights in the Kazakh Caspian Sea
With the development of shipping in the Caspian Sea, the need for high-quality data on wave characteristics has increased. In the present work, the analysis of maximum wave height at coastal stations in Kazakhstan was carried out using wave and wind data

Flavor Asymmetry of the Sea Quarks in the Baryon Octet [PDF]
We show that the chiral $SU(n)\otimes SU(n)$ flavor symmetry on the null-plane severely restricts the sea quarks in the baryon octet. It predicts large asymmetry for the light sea quarks $(u,d,s)$, and universality and abundance for the heavy sea quarks.

Fueling Incubation: Differential Use of Body Stores in Arctic and Temperate-breeding Barnacle Geese (Branta leucopsis) [PDF]
We compared the use of body stores in breeding Barnacle Geese (Branta leucopsis) in traditional Arctic colonies in the Barents Sea with that in recently established temperate-zone breeding colonies in the Baltic Sea and North Sea by studying female body ...
