A dataset of direct observations of sea ice drift and waves in ice [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Variability in sea ice conditions, combined with strong couplings to the atmosphere and the ocean, lead to a broad range of complex sea ice dynamics. More in-situ measurements are needed to better identify the phenomena and mechanisms that govern sea ice growth, drift, and breakup.

Assessment of contemporary satellite sea ice thickness products for Arctic sea ice [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere, 2018
Abstract. Advances in remote sensing of sea ice over the past two decades have resulted in a wide variety of satellite-derived sea ice thickness data products becoming publicly available. Selecting the most appropriate product is challenging given end user objectives range from incorporating satellite-derived thickness information in operational ...

Arctic and Antarctic Sea Ice Change: Contrasts, Commonalities, and Causes.

open access: yesAnnual Review of Marine Science, 2019
Arctic sea ice has declined precipitously in both extent and thickness over the past four decades; by contrast, Antarctic sea ice has shown little overall change, but this masks large regional variability.

Respiratory complex I‐mediated NAD+ regeneration regulates cancer cell proliferation through the transcriptional and translational control of p21Cip1 expression by SIRT3 and SIRT7

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

The Importance of Ice Vertical Resolution for Snowball Climate and Deglaciation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Sea ice schemes with a few vertical levels are typically used to simulate the thermodynamic evolution of sea ice in global climate models. Here it is shown that these schemes overestimate the magnitude of the diurnal surface temperature cycle by a factor

Higher-order statistical moments to analyse Arctic sea-ice drift patterns

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 2020
Geophysical systems are often assumed to follow Gaussian probability density functions; however, deviations from Gaussian behaviour can shed light on the underlying dynamics.

Probabilistic forecasts of sea ice trajectories in the Arctic: impact of uncertainties in surface wind and ice cohesion [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We study the response of the Lagrangian sea ice model neXtSIM to the uncertainty in the sea surface wind and sea ice cohesion. The ice mechanics in neXtSIM is based on a brittle-like rheological framework. The study considers short-term ensemble forecasts of the Arctic sea ice from January to April 2008.

Estimation of sea ice parameters from sea ice model with assimilated ice concentration and SST [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere, 2018
Abstract. A multi-category numerical sea ice model CICE along with data assimilation was used to derive sea ice parameters in the region of Baffin Bay and Labrador Sea. The assimilation of ice concentration was performed using the data derived from Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR-E & AMSR2).

Extreme Conditions in the Bering Sea (2017–2018): Record‐Breaking Low Sea‐Ice Extent

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
The lowest winter‐maximum areal sea‐ice coverage on record (1980–2019) in the Bering Sea occurred in the winter of 2017/2018. Sea ice arrived late due to warm southerly winds in November. More typical northerly winds (albeit warm) in December and January

Peripheral blood leukocyte signatures as biomarkers in relapsed ovarian cancer patients receiving combined anti‐CD73/anti‐PD‐L1 immunotherapy in arm A of the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using mass cytometry, we analyzed serial blood samples from patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) treated with oleclumab–durvalumab combination immunotherapy in the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial. Our analysis identified potential predictive, monitoring, and response biomarkers detectable through liquid biopsy. These findings facilitate
