ASTHENOSPHERE OF THE OKHOTSK SEA AND ADJACENT AREAS
Asthenosphere is regarded as a layer of partial melting, physical properties of which differ from those of the matter lying above and under it. As various physical properties react differently to one and the same percentage of the magmatic melt (some of them change by the first tens of percent, the others by some orders), we consider specifically ...

A new global gas hydrate budget based on numerical reaction-transport modeling and a novel parameterization of Holocene and Quaternary sedimentation [PDF]
This study provides new estimates for the global methane hydrate inventory based on reaction-transport modeling [1]. A multi-1D model for POC degradation, gas hydrate formation and dissolution is presented.

Age- and length-at-maturity of female arrowtooth flounder (Atheresthes stomias) in the Gulf of Alaska [PDF]
Arrowtooth flounder (Atheresthes stomias) has had the highest abundance of any groundfish species in the Gulf of Alaska since the 1970s (Matarese et al., 2003; Turnock et al., 2005; Blood et al., 2007); however, commercial catches have been restricted ...

Effect of different surface forcings on the circulation and stratification in a global model with focus on the Northwest Pacific Ocean [PDF]
The subarctic oceans like the Sea of Okhotsk, the Bering Sea, the Labrador Sea or the Greenland-Irminger- Norwegian (GIN) Sea react particularly sensitive to global climate changes and have the potential to reversely regulate climate change by CO2 ...
