The distinction between brown trout and sea trout by the strontium content of their scales

Journal of Fish Biology, 1973
A method is described for distinguishing the scales of sea trout from brown trout by their strontium content. Scales of brown trout contain less than 200 μgSr/g and those of sea trout more than 300 μgSr/g.

Acclimation of rainbow trout to sea water

Aquaculture, 1976
Abstract In some fish farms it is advantageous to transfer rainbow trout from fresh water to sea water at as small a size as possible. It has been shown that a relatively small reduction in salinity at the marine site can give appreciable improvements in survival rates during acclimation by smaller fish, thus rainbow trout of 15 g have routinely been

Sea trout (Salmo trutta) in subdivisions 22–32 (Baltic Sea)

2017
The Baltic Sea contains approximately 1000 sea trout stocks and about half of them are wild. There are no estimates of the historical numbers of sea trout populations or quantitative estimates of the total natural smolt production in past years. The status of these populations is very variable; a few populations appear to be in a good state, whereas in
