Overview of the population genetics and connectivity of sea turtles in the East Asia Region and their conservation implications

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Understanding the current status and recent development of the population genetics and connectivity of sea turtles is crucial for effective conservation management of the species. Five sea turtle species, green turtle (Chelonia mydas), loggerhead turtle (

Nesting Success of Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtles, Lepidochelys kempi, at Rancho Nuevo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, 1982–2004 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, Lepidochelys kempi, was on the edge of extinction owing to a combination of intense egg harvesting and incidental capture in commercial fishing trawls.

Next Generation Hosts for Protein Recognition, Assembly and More

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The original design of synthetic receptors for proteins was based on macrocycles with a hydrophobic core and a polar/charged periphery. This design, geared towards protein recognition, facilitates receptor self‐assembly. Macrocycle oligomerization, in turn, contributes to protein assembly as evidenced in many cocrystal structures.

Pulmonary development in Squamata: Insights from embryonic studies using micro‐CT

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Pulmonary development in tetrapods is a complex process, especially within squamates, where single‐chambered, transitional, and multi‐chambered lungs can be found in adult animals. While the embryological development of the respiratory system of lizards and snakes was studied in a number of species between the 1830s and 1940s, the ...

International Sea Turtle Bycatch Reduction Plan [PDF]

open access: yes
Official US statement acknowledging the need to quantify sea turtle bycatch and seek solutions to reduce incidental capture. Fishing gear modifications are recommended as an alternative to fishery closures.

The Status of Loggerhead, Caretta caretta; Kemp's Ridley, Lepidochelys kempi; and Green, Chelonia mydas, Sea Turtles in U.S. Waters: A Reconsideration [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Assessing the status of widely distributed marine species can prove difficult because virtually every sampling technique has assumptions, limitations, and biases that affect the results of the study.

Biophysical processes of morphogenesis in lizard lungs

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The lungs of squamate reptiles (lizards and snakes) are highly diverse, exhibiting single chambers, multiple chambers, transitional forms with two to three chambers, along with a suite of other anatomical features, including finger‐like epithelial projections into the body cavity known as diverticulae.

The Distribution of Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles (Lepidochelys kempi) Along the Texas Coast: An Atlas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Eight hundred sixty-five records of Kemp's ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys kempi) reported from Texas between the late 1940's to April 1990 were compiled from six data bases and the literature, then plotted on a series of Texas maps. Four categories of

Oogenesis and germinal bed morphology of the brown anole (A. sagrei)

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The brown anole is a model species of the genus Anolis, a squamate (encompassing lizards and snakes) group widely studied in evolutionary, behavioral, and developmental biology. Full genome annotation, the establishment of gene editing techniques, and comprehensive description of reproductive tract morphology and embryogenesis in ...

On the landing of an olive ridley turtle at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu and updated record of incidental catches of sea turtles in India [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Five species of the sea turtles, Lepidochelys olivacea (Olive ridley turtle), Chelonia mydas (Green turtle) Eretemochelys tmbricata (Hawksbill turtle), Caretta caretta (Loggerhead turtle) and Dermochelys coriacea (Leatherback turtle) are foimd along ...
