Validation of sea surface wind vecter retrieval from China's HY-2A Scatterometer
2013 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium - IGARSS, 2013In this study, a comparison of wind field measurements from HY-2A Scatterometer and U.S. National Data Buoy Center (NDBC)'s moored buoys is performed. These comparisons were made in Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean over one month period of August 2012. The SCAT wind speed retrieval agreed well with the buoy measurements, with mean differences of -0.74 ...

Evaluation of wind energy resources and wind power generation can provide decision basis for wind energy construction. Based on the study area in the eastern sea area of Yancheng, 8 scenes of ERS-2 SAR images in 2007 are collected to retrieve wind field and the retrieval results are verified by QuikSCAT wind data.

In the context of offshore wind energy, LIDAR technology is emerging with the use of floating Doppler Wind Lidars. These offshore devices have arisen as an alternative to traditional meteorological masts in the wind resource assessment phase of offshore wind farm deployments. When placed atop buoys, DWLs can assess the wind resource in a cost-effective

A Review of Sea Wind Vector Retrieval By Means of Microwave Remote Sensing
2006Wind vector over the sea is fundamental to pre- dict and understand meteorological and climatic processes. Mi- crowave remote sensing is able to make measurements that can be processed to estimate the wind vector. This ensures a better spatial and temporal coverage with respect to the traditional in situ techniques.
