Vessels' Seakeeping

2006

Variation of parameters determining seakeeping

International Shipbuilding Progress, 1977
With the computerprogram “Trial” calculations have been carried out to determine the seakeeping qualities in head waves of systematically varied shipforms. These ships were derived from the well-known “Todd-60” series. The following varied parameters show in succession of importance the influence on ship motions etc.: ship-length, speed, forebody ...

Combatant Seakeeping Sensitivity Study

2001
Abstract : This study examines the sensitivity of seakeeping predictions for three different ship classes. The sensitivity parameters were displacement, KG and trim The three ships hulls were the CG-47, and DDG-51 Flights I and IIA. The results consist of the percent difference from the median condition for every combination of parameters.

Seakeeping correlation studies

2003
The following paper describes the results of a study investigating these correlations. One of the more noteworthy conclusions of the study is the clear need for an adequate description of the seaway in which the sea trials were performed. In particular, sea trials are generally performed not too far from land where sea spectra are quite likely to be ...

Evaluation of Seakeeping Predictions

2013
Test cases related to seakeeping are studied in this chapter including heave and pitch with or without surge motion in regular head waves for KVLCC2 and KCS and wave diffraction and roll-decay with forward speed for DTMB 5415. For seakeeping, the total average error is E = 23 %D, comparable to the average error for previous seakeeping predictions.

MARHYDRO - SEAKEEPING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

2002
This paper discrabes an educational sekeeping software, based on ordinary strip theory of Gerritsma and Beukelman and modified strip theory of Voughts, derived and explained in seakeeping text books of A.R.J.M. Lloyd, R. Bhattacharrya and others. Local hydrodinamic coefficients can be calculated using 2-paramiter Lewis, or very accurate 9-parameter ...
