Penetration and microleakage of dental sealants in artificial fissures.
Journal of dentistry for children (Chicago, Ill.), 2004This study investigated sealant penetration and dye microleakage of a resin composite system, a compomer system, and a resin-modified glass-ionomer cement in artificially grooved fissures in human molars. Ionosit Seal penetrated 99% of the artificial crevices, whereas Dyract Seal penetrated 97%.

Microleakage and sealant penetration using a vibrating probe.
American journal of dentistry, 2005To evaluate the effect of a vibrating probe on sealant penetration into pits and fissures.Thirty-six extracted human third molars were used. The occlusal surface of each molar was cleaned with a rubber cup and pumice slurry. Scotchbond Etchant (35% phosphoric acid gel) was applied to the occlusal fissures of each molar for 20 seconds.

Enhancement of fissure sealant penetration and adaptation: the enameloplasty technique.
The Journal of clinical pediatric dentistry, 1995The purpose of this study was to evaluate with the scanning electron microscope (SEM) the effects of mechanically enlarging the occlusal fissures with a bur in regards to: (1) fissure micromorphology; (2) sealant penetration into fissures; and (3) micromorphology of the fitting surface of sealants.

Effects of the preparation technique and type of material on the penetrability of sealants.
General dentistry, 2017The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the penetration of 2 resin-based and 2 glass ionomer sealants into fissures after either conventional or mechanical preparation. All the materials placed in the conventionally prepared and mechanically prepared fissures penetrated the fissures beyond the standard (0.5-mm) reference line used in this ...

Fissure sealing: optimization of sealant penetration and sealing properties.
American journal of dentistry, 2001This in vitro study determined the penetration depth of a fissure sealant into an empty fissure system and into a conditioned enamel surface, using different sealing procedures.48 extracted, non-carious human molars were sealed with the unfilled sealant (Heliobond) using the enamel adhesive technique (35% phosphoric acid gel, 120 s etching time, bond ...

Effect of surface-penetrating sealant on wear resistance of luting agents.
Quintessence international (Berlin, Germany : 1985), 1995The wear of composite resin is influenced by the presence of microcracks on its surface. Recently, it has been shown that surface-penetrating sealants are effective in reducing the wear of posterior composite resin by sealing these defects. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of one of these sealants on the wear of various luting ...

Effect of sealant viscosity on the penetration of resin into etched human enamel.
Operative dentistry, 2001This study was designed to investigate the relationship between the etched depth, penetration of sealants and marginal seal. Sixty unerupted lower first premolars extracted from patients for orthodontic reasons were thoroughly cleaned and stored in an antiseptic Ringer's solution at 4 degrees C.

Penetration of Filled and Unfilled Resin Sealants on Different Enamel Substrates.
Pediatric dentistry, 2018To evaluate the penetration ratio of filled and unfilled resin-based sealants on different enamel substrates and pit and fissure morphologies.Forty-eight occlusal enamel blocks obtained from impacted human third molars were randomly divided (n equals eight) according to enamel substrates (sound; caries-like lesion; caries-like lesion plus topical ...
