Experimental Study on Leakage and Thermal Features of Herringbone-Grooved Oil-Film-Lubricated Mechanical Face Seals

open access: yesTribology Online, 2022
The herringbone-grooved oil-film-lubricated mechanical face seals were experimentally studied on aspects of the leakage and thermal features. The outer-diameter pressured test assembly was utilized to measure the leakage and the stator temperature of the

Study on the Service Performance of a Two-Stage Floating-Ring Isolation Seal for a High-Speed Turbopump with a Cryogenic Medium

open access: yesMachines, 2023
The reliability and stability of the seal at the fuel-supply end of a rocket-engine turbopump are important factors in determining safety. Conventional single-stage floating rings used for the isolation-sealing of cryogenic media are highly susceptible ...

Remarks on Modeling the Oil Film Generation of Rod Seals

open access: yesLubricants, 2021
The oil film generation of a U-cup rod seal and the oil film thickness on the rod after outstroke were analyzed analytically, numerically, and experimentally. The analyzed sealing system consists of an unmodified, commercially available U-cup, a polished

SEAL: Sealed-Bid Auction Without Auctioneers [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, 2020
We propose the first auctioneer-free sealed-bid auction protocol with a linear computation and communication complexity O(c), c being the bit length of the bid price. Our protocol, called Self-Enforcing Auction Lot (SEAL), operates in a decentralized setting, where bidders jointly compute the maximum bid while preserving the privacy of losing bids.

Achieving near-infrared-light-mediated switchable friction regulation on MXene-based double network hydrogels

open access: yesFriction, 2023
MXene possesses great potential in enriching the functionalities of hydrogels due to its unique metallic conductivity, high aspect ratio, near-infrared light (NIR light) responsiveness, and wide tunability, however, the poor compatibility of MXene with ...

PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF CARIES AND ITS COMPLICATIONS IN TEMPORARY TEETH IN A DENTAL CLINIC

open access: yesУкраїнський стоматологічний альманах, 2023
Damage to the hard tissues of the teeth is most common among children. This applies to both temporary and permanent bite. Untimely prevention and treatment of caries leads to the progression of the process in the tissues of the tooth, the occurrence of ...

Self-aligned 0-level sealing of MEMS devices by a two layer thin film reflow process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Many micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) require a vacuum or controlled atmosphere encapsulation in order to ensure either a good performance or an acceptable lifetime of operation. Two approaches for wafer-scale zero-level packaging exist.
