Long-term sealing ability of a calcium hydroxide sealer

Journal of Endodontics, 1991
A calcium hydroxide sealer (Sealapex) was compared with a zinc oxide and eugenol sealer (Tubli-Seal) over a 32-wk interval to examine solubility in an in vitro simulation. After obturation with gutta-percha and the appropriate sealer, specimens were immediately immersed in a saline solution to challenge the sealers' solubility.

Sealing ability of cavit and TERM as intermediate restorative materials

Journal of Endodontics, 1988
The purpose of this study was to compare the ability of temporary endodontic restorative material (TERM) and Cavit to seal endodontic access cavity margins. Forty-eight extracted human teeth were divided into four groups of 12. After endodontic access, the teeth were filled with either Cavit (24 teeth) or TERM (24 teeth).

The influence of the smear layer on the sealing ability of canal obturation

International Endodontic Journal, 1987
Summary. The sealing of obturated root canals which had previously been cleaned chemically by EDTA or mechanically by ultrasound was compared using 60 single‐rooted teeth in an in vitro study. At first, the canals were manually prepared under copious irrigation with NaOCl.

Effects of subpressure on the sealing ability of dental sealant in vitro

Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2018
Pits and fissures sealing with flowable materials is a popular method for preventing caries in preventive dentistry while there is still microleakage existed. This in vitro study aimed to explore the effects of subpressure technique on the sealing ability of pit and fissure sealant. One hundred and forty-one extracted human premolars were collected in ...

In Vitro Study of the Sealing Ability of Cements for Zirconia Restorations

Journal of Prosthodontics, 2016
AbstractPurposeThe micropercolation testing of dental materials is currently used to evaluate the sealing ability. The aim of the present study is to compare the sealing ability of distinct assembling materials for zirconium oxide peripheric crowns.Materials and MethodsOne hundred teeth were prepared to be thermocycled after being distributed at random

Dynamic sealing ability of MTA root canal sealer.

International endodontic journal, 2011
To evaluate (i) the sealing ability of two sealers, mineral trioxide aggregate sealer (MTAS) and Pulp Canal Sealer (PCS), used with gutta-percha utilizing the fluid filtration method, (ii) leaching and surface characteristics in Hank's balanced salt solution (HBSS) over a period of time.Surface characteristics in HBSS were evaluated under the scanning ...

The sealing ability of injection-molded thermoplasticized gutta-percha

Journal of Endodontics, 1985
The quality of the apical seal obtained with laterally condensed gutta-percha with sealer and injectionmolded thermoplasticized gutta-percha with and without sealer was assessed in 60 recently extracted maxillary canines. The frequency of guttapercha extension through the apex was also studied.
