Where searching will go in Internet of Things?

2011 IFIP Wireless Days (WD), 2011
Internet of Things (IoT) is coming into birth as pervasive hand-held devices, Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), and embedded sensors connect to the Internet. IoT enables objects to interact and cooperate with each other anytime and anywhere. Owing to the new challenges imposed by IoT — search locality and real-time, searching in IoT is challenging.

Context‐aware search optimization framework on the internet of things

Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, 2018
AbstractThe resource discovery on IoT paradigm requires to be efficient with respect to modeling, storage, processing, and validation of the gathered data. These requirements face challenges like interoperability, heterogeneity, etc, with respect to exponentially growing interconnected resources across distinct application domains and drastically ...

Searching for the internet of things: where it is and what it looks like

Personal and Ubiquitous Computing, 2017
The Internet of Things (IoT), in general, is a compelling paradigm that aims to connect everyday objects to the Internet. Nowadays, IoT is considered as one of the main technologies which contribute towards reshaping our daily lives in the next decade.

Searching the social Internet of Things by exploiting object similarity

2016 IEEE 3rd World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT), 2016
One of the major issues of Internet of Things (IoT) is discovering which objects are able to execute specific services and provide the required data for applications to be correctly accomplished. In recent years, the Social IoT (SIoT) paradigm, where objects establish social-like relationships, has become popular as it presents several interesting ...

A Hybrid Search Engine Framework for the Internet of Things

2012 Ninth Web Information Systems and Applications Conference, 2012
Efficient retrieval of dynamically generated, spatial-temporal, and heterogeneous sampling data in the Internet of Things is a key challenge in recent years. However, current search engine techniques are not suitable for such kind of data. To solve this problem, we propose a Hybrid Search Engine Technique for the Internet of Things based on Spatial ...

Greedy tree search for Internet of Things signal detection

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2015
In this paper, we propose a greedy tree search algorithm for Internet of Things (IoT) signal detection. The proposed method, referred to as matching pursuit with integer tree search (MP-ITS), recovers integer sparse vector (sparse vector whose nonzero elements are chosen from a set of finite alphabets) using the tree search.

Combinatorial-Oriented Feedback for Sensor Data Search in Internet of Things

IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 2020
Sensor data search is an imminent component for the booming Internet of Things (IoT). Current proposals would refer to either keyword or spatial location, then the matched sensor data should be manually selected by requesters. However, the selection is arduous as there are massive connected devices.

The Internet of Things in Europe: In Search of Unicorns

2020
Unicorns are privately owned companies that are valued above $1bn. New technologies, such as wireless telecommunications and artificial intelligence, have provided the foundations for novel value propositions, which, in conjunction, with a favourable financial environment has increased the population of unicorns worldwide.

Search engine based resource discovery framework for Internet of Things

2015 IEEE 4th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE), 2015
This paper proposes a search engine based resource discovery framework for Internet of Things (IoT) to discover resources, their capabilities, properties and URIs to access them regardless of communication technology. There is a central registry to store configurations of resources and they are indexed. Based on discovery request parameters, the search
