Regional Geography of Glacier Mass Balance Variability Over Seven Decades 1946–2015

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
Despite much progress with remote sensing, on-site measurements of glacier mass balance (with stakes and snow pits) still have advantages for resolution of interannual and seasonal changes of mass balance. Understanding these changes may help to identify

Integration of seasonal precipitation forecast information into local-level agricultural decision-making using an agent-based model to support community adaptation

open access: yesClimate Risk Management, 2022
Accessibility and variability of water resources can have profound impacts on social, political, and economic security. In regions with pronounced climate variability (e.g., seasonal and inter-annual variability in precipitation), seasonal climate ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Early twenty-first century satellite-driven irrigation performance in the world’s largest system: Pakistan’s Indus Basin irrigated system

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2020
Evaluating irrigation performance in large systems is often limited by the availability of reliable water use data. Satellite-driven actual evapotranspiration (ET _a ) estimates are used herein as water use surrogates to assess the year-to-year inter ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Comparison of seasonal variability in European domestic radon measurements [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2010
Analysis of published data characterising seasonal variability of domestic radon concentrations in Europe and elsewhere shows significant variability between different countries and between regions where regional data is available.

PRACTICES USED BY DAIRY FARMERS TO REDUCE SEASONAL PRODUCTION VARIABILITY [PDF]

open access: yes
Results of this study further support the effectiveness of the seasonal pricing plan in reducing seasonal production variability. Florida Dairy farmers were able to change factors that affect production in order to take advantage of the seasonal pricing ...

Seasonal Variability of the Deep Western Boundary Current in the Philippine Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
The deep western boundary current (DWBC) in the Philippine Sea has been expected to play a crucial role in transporting lower circumpolar deep water and to contribute to regional and global climate regulation.
