Novel Zwitterionic Polydopamine Nanofiller‐Reinforced Hybrid Membranes With Superior Antifouling Performance for Wastewater Treatment

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work reports one‐pot synthesized novel zwitterionic polydopamine‐silica (ZSiPDA) nanofillers for fabricating PES hybrid ultrafiltration membranes with enhanced hydrophilicity, permeability, and antifouling performance. The optimized membrane achieved over 91% humic acid removal and showed strong potential for municipal wastewater treatment.

Desalination plants in Australia, review and facts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Australia is the driest continent on earth and despite this the installed desalination capacity is still around 1% of the total world's desalination capacity.

Performance Study of the Al Hoceima Seawater Desalination Plant [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The growing demand for freshwater, amplified by climate change, can lead to variations in precipitation patterns and cause more frequent and severe droughts, reinforcing the need for seawater desalination to meet these growing needs.

3D Knitted Interfacial Solar Steam Generator for High‐Efficiency and Long‐Term Seawater Desalination

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The hydrophobic bottom provides buoyancy to keep the evaporator floating, and directional vertical spacer yarn supplies sufficient water. The knitted photothermal layer efficiently converts solar energy via multiple light reflections. The Marangoni effect induced by edge yarn accelerates the backflow of salt ions, preventing salt accumulation in the ...

Synthesis of highly stable UiO-66-NH2 membranes with high ions rejection for seawater desalination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Compact and phase-pure UiO-66-NH2 membranes were synthesized on the 3-aminopropy-ltriethoxysilane (APTES) modified macroporous Al2O3 tubes through a repeated synthesis strategy.

Pilot scale study of chlorination-induced transport property changes of a seawater reverse osmosis membrane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A pilot-scale study was performed to assess variations of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane water permeance (A) and salt retention (Robs) induced by chlorination and to compare them with those observed at the lab-scale. A chlorination protocol was adapted to

Simplified Freeze Desalination through Enhanced Recovery Rate and Desalination Efficiency [PDF]

open access: yesAUT Journal of Mechanical Engineering
Freeze desalination is an emerging technique since it uses much less energy than most other thermal technologies. As a portion of zero/minimum liquid discharge technologies, crystallization is being commercially used, however, it is probably the most ...
