Comparison of Antioxidant Capacity by Cooking Method of Apios (Apios americana Medicus) and Its Applicability as an Elder‐Friendly Food

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
As a result, the loss rate of antioxidant capacity in the sous‐vided Apios was the lowest. A gelling agent was added to the sous‐vide Apios to achieve the desired hardness for KS, leading to the derivation of the regression equations: “Y = 1837.2X + 2829.2” for gelatin and “Y = 2937.1X + 1445.2” for agar.

North American river otter habitat suitability and human–wildlife coexistence on Protection Island, British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 89, Issue 3, April 2025.
North American river otters (Lontra canadensis) coexist (and also conflict) with humans in many places, including on Protection Island, British Columbia, Canada, and are sensitive to environments with relatively high levels of anthropogenic disturbance that they inhabit.

4‐O‐Methylglucuronoxylan from Hygrophila Ringens var. Ringens Seeds: Chemical Composition and Anti‐Inflammatory Activity

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2025.
4‐O‐Methylglucuronoxylan from Hygrophila ringens var. ringens is found to inhibit the serum albumin denaturation, inflammatory cytokines, and release of reactive oxygen species by activation of mitogen‐activated protein kinases without having significant macrophage cytotoxicity.

Production and Characterization of Different Sodium Alginate Biospheres with Activated Carbon and Arthrospira platensis: A Novel Adsorbent for Removing Textile Dyes

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 13, April 4, 2025.
This work produced three different biospheres to adsorb textile dyes. The biospheres were composed of cross‐linked alginate (SAB) and could include either activated carbon (SAAC) or microalgae (SAM) in their matrix. SAB was the most efficient and cost‐effective since all its interaction sites were free.
