Sizing and Least-Change Secant Methods [PDF]
This paper studies a new secant update for nonlinear minimization. This update is based on a least-change principle involving the matrix trace: Consequently, all eigenvalues are taken into account in the determination of the update. In addition to motivation and analysis, computational results/comparisons are provided.

Homotopy Analysis-Based Hybrid Genetic Algorithm and Secant Method to Solve IVP and Higher-Order BVP
The analytical solution of the Initial Value Problem (IVP) and the Boundary Value Problem (BVP) is an essential issue in numerous engineering applications. However, it cannot usually be realized by simple methods.

Novel hybrid algorithms for root determining using advantages of open methods and bracketing methods
There are two numerical approaches for root determining methods: open methods and bracketing methods. Open methods usually converge much more quickly than the bracketing methods, but they may diverge in some cases.

On the Convergence Ball and Error Analysis of the Modified Secant Method
We aim to study the convergence properties of a modification of secant iteration methods. We present a new local convergence theorem for the modified secant method, where the derivative of the nonlinear operator satisfies Lipchitz condition. We introduce

Hydrate distribution heterogeneity is often observed in natural and artificial hydrate-bearing sediments (HBSs). To capture hydrate distribution heterogeneity, a pore-scale method is proposed to model cemented HBSs using the discrete element method (DEM).
