Oscillatory properties for semilinear degenerate hyperbolic equations of second order [PDF]
We consider three kind of oscillatory properties of the solutions to semilinear degenerate hyperbolic equations. Several sufficient conditions for the oscillation or non-oscillation are presented.

Global existence for the one-dimensional second order semilinear hyperbolic equations
The aim of the paper is to study necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the global solution of the one-dimensional semilinear equation appearing in the boundary value problems of gas dynamics.

Semilinear formulation of a hyperbolic system of partial differential equations
In this paper, we solve the Cauchy problem for a hyperbolic system of first-order PDEs defined on a certain Banach space X. The system has a special semilinear structure because, on the one hand, the evolution law can be expressed as the sum of a linear ...

Asymptotic stability of intermittently damped semi-linear hyperbolic-type equations
Of concern is asymptotic stability for second order semilinear evolution equations in a Hilbert space with intermittent damping. We obtain asymptotic stability results, without the assumption that the damping coefficient \begin{document}$ a(t) $\end ...

Finding the exact decay rate of all solutions to some second order evolution equations with dissipation [PDF]
We consider an abstract second order evolution equation with damping. The “elastic” term is represented by a self-adjoint nonnegative operator A with discrete spectrum, and the nonlinear term has order greater than one at the origin.

A Test Function Method for Weakly Coupled Systems With Derivative‐Type Nonlinearity
ABSTRACT We consider a two by two system of inequalities which include fractional powers of the Laplace operator, coupled through a semilinear term of derivative type. We prove the nonexistence of global‐in‐time weak solutions for powers below the critical curve and possibly on the critical curve.

Inverse problems for semilinear elliptic PDE with a general nonlinearity a(x,u)$a(x,u)$
Abstract This article studies the inverse problem of recovering a nonlinearity in an elliptic equation Δu+a(x,u)=0$\Delta u + a(x,u) = 0$ from boundary measurements of solutions. Previous results based on first‐order linearization achieve this under a sign condition on ∂ua(x,u)$\partial _u a(x,u)$, and results based on higher order linearization ...

This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.
